I've spent way too much time looking at how to configure this blog, but technology is a passion of mine. I tend to get caught up in technical minutia though - which can be counterproductive! Always looking for something better, faster, sleeker.

As I mentioned in my beginning post, I almost abandoned Joomla for Wordpress, but in the end I decided that Wordpress didn't offer the flexibility that Joomla does.  I like knowing that I can do just about anything with a website, even if I don't really need it.

Joomla isn't really a blogging tool, but you can use a few 3rd party item like Azrul.com's MyBlog, and Windows Live Writer, to create a blogging platform that rivals any other. Things like Technocrati pings, Feedburner, tag clouds, etc, can all be set up easily.

You have to install the RSD plugin for Joomla as well as the Metaweblog Api plugin in order to use Windows Live Writer - but once you do, your blogging is way easier, and can be done from the Firescribe tool for Firefox as well. As usual I'm looking for plugins that may add more cool functionality...although I need to add a few recipes to my Recipezaar cookbook, so I think I've got the blog stuff configured well enough!

Ah as for the template, which is a work in progress - I also found a pretty amazing template designer called Artisteer. While still in its infancy, this is a downright revolutionary tool - and once they add XHTML compliance and Joomla support, as well as non sheet based templates, it should be something every webmaster should look at.
