At the suggestion of a user from our feedback forum, I set up a group on Facebook for Insta Spanish, my general Spanish website. To my delight people are already joining. What is amazing to me is that some people have been on Insta Spanish for a while – and I’ve never seen their pictures, known much of anything about them – even seen them as real people. Dealing with people online, there comes a point where it all blurs together; nobody seems like a real person to you.
Beyond that, it seems obvious that there are a million ways to make this good for teaching and learning! Ideas come to mind like a vocabulary theme for status updates, penpal finder, group lesson writing, and more – just need to think more about it as I watch the group interact.
